One man campaign
Because I'd love to see a Christmas number one that is a.) not X-Factor related, b.) actually festive, and c.) by my favourite group, I'm starting a Campaign to persuade people that it would really really be worth a smidgin of their moneys to purchase the Pet Shop Boys' song It Doesn't Often Snow at Christmas
from iTunes and get it to number one for Christmas. So if that idea floats your particular boat, feel free to post this in your LJ and in any communities of relevance. And then don't forget to buy it. I think to actually be Christmas number one, it would have to be bought this week, so it would go into the charts announced next Sunday, which will be the charts that apply on Saturday December 25th.
btw, I'm thinking of the UK charts, but if you're not in the UK you can try to get it to number one wherever you are.

Warfield show in San Francisco
Hello! I went to the PSB show at Warfield in San Francisco a few nites ago and took some pictures. Sorry they're small, I was stuck behind a tall guy with a big long ponytail all night and had to wave my camera in the air to snap anything at all! :-}

Does anyone have VIP tickets to the Montreal show that they're willing to sell?
I would do ANYTHING to meet them :(

OK, so having started a lobby to get PSB's to Toronto on their Pandemonium tour and realising there was an Aug 30 date set up, I sort of decided to go away and wait for the venue announcement.
Having done some digging I now find that potentially this date could be for the Toronto Virgin V-Fest. Boo Hiss Boo! This is no fun. I don't want to see them at a festival with ten other bands in a field. I want to see them at a decent venue.
I hope to the Gods that this isn't going to be the case but time will tell. Anybody know anything else about this? Current Mood: aggravated

Get Pet Shop Boys to Toronto please!
I have just started a LJ to lobby to get the PSB`s to add a Toronto tour date to their Pandemonium tour.
I would REALLY appreciate it if everyone could sign up and help get them to come to Toronto. The only two Canadian dates they are playing are in Montreal and Vancouver. The `Fundamental` tour date in Toronto was a blast and I really am at a loss why they have overlooked this city this time....especially when one of their contributors to `Yes`is from Toronto, Canada (Owen Pallet).
So come on and join my LJ and help to make this happen. I can`t believe there aren`t enough people in Ontario that wouldn`t fill a venue for an extra date!!!
Thanks for your support! Current Mood: cheerful

Old interview with the Pets
I've been sorting out my magazine collection recently, in readiness for moving house, and came across this interview with Pet Shop Boys, in a an old issue of Q
magazine, published sometime around spring 2002, part of their regular Cash for Questions series of interviews. I thought I'd share it here. The images are rather large (c.600K each), all the better to read them clearly, so I'll just give you the links here:Page 14
(sorry I folded it - apart from that it's a really lovely picture, IMO)Page 15Page 17Page 18

Neil is interviewed in next week's Radio Times
, ahead of the Boys' appearance on Wednesday's Brit Awards show.
I've scanned the interview, and it's here
. Enjoy - it's lovely to see him interviewed, IMO.

For russian-speaking only
Hello. Message that I wrote below is for russian-speaking visitors of this community.
I hope I didn't break the rules of this community by posting my message, it was written without any advertising's intention. Also, please excuse me for disturbing you.
Current Mood: creative

Tedious information about PSB things
My other half is a pop musician, and as such can sign into the PRS website (they are the people who deal with royalties for records etc). Anyway, whilst browsing today, he found some information about the PSBs and I thought I would share it with you.
For example, here are some registered songs (the creation dates may not be 100% accurate).
"Dance Mama" (2000)
"Dream Team" (1996)
"Go Away" (1998)
"Haven't Stopped Dancing" (2002)
"Lethal Weapon 2" (apprently co-written with Eric Clapton and George Harrison - possibly an administrative error) (1998)
"Live Music Awards" - a Chris Lowe solo composition (2001)
"Living Single - Swing Out Sister" (2000)
"Room With A Viewer" (1996)
"Tru Tucatre" (2000) - another Chris Lowe one
"Twist Peace I Think" (2001)
On 'She's Madonna', Robbie gets 25% of the PRS money, each Pet Shop Boy only gets 12.5% each. On 'One More Chance' (or 'One More Chance Tonight' to give it it's official title) the same happens with Bobby O getting a 25% share.
There is the shocking confirmation that Chris did not have anything to do with 'Two Divided By Zero' - it was written by Neil and Bobby O alone. The song has the official "alternate" title of 'Let's Run Away', interestingly enough. 'Later Tonight' has a sole credit for Neil.
'Miracles' is an odd one. No credit for Chris, written by Neil, Adam F, Dan Stein and Peter Smith.
There are a number of songs credited to Neil alone. "25 Years", "Aisling Geal", "Breakdown", "Dayz Like That", "Suala Lady". There is also a song listed called "Hit Depot", written by Neil and Pal Waaktaar from A-Ha.
(All discovered by boyfriend...all interesting...probably only to me.)
